Hi, I’m James.
I like building bridges.
Between disciplines. Between people.
And between what we know and what we could understand.

Understanding people.
Imagining possibilities.
I’m James He, founder and CEO of Artificial Societies. My work brings together behavioural data science and AI to explore how individual beliefs become collective behaviour.
My background is in behavioural data science at Cambridge. I’m also a patron of Selwyn College, Cambridge, and set up the James K. He Scholarship to support interdisciplinary undergraduate research.
My research interests include collective behaviour in AI systems, social media and public attitudes, and better ways of learning from experiments. I’m drawn to questions that don’t fit neatly inside one discipline.
A small room for
bigger thinking.
What if an agent didn’t just give you an answer—but helped you hear a different point of view?
Foundate is an independent project exploring that question. It uses fictional AI perspectives to help you examine decisions, surface assumptions, and design better real-world tests.
It is inspired by the broader field of social simulation, but it is not the Artificial Societies platform. It does not use their proprietary technology, persona data, or validated research methods, and does not claim their performance.
